Everyone has different daily routine, eating habits and disease condition. The location of insulin injection is different, and the effect of the same dose of insulin on lowering blood sugar varies on everyone, so it’s better to use a blood sugar monitoring to be more effective.
Needle Selection
There are several types of pen needle needles from 28G to 33G and 5mm to 8mm. The larger the number of G, the thinner the needle. Generally speaking, it will be less painful with a thinner and shorter needle.
Injection Position
The thickness of the subcutaneous tissue varies by people, so it depends on the body figure and the injection site to decide whether to pinch the skin. However, the needle insertion angle must be 90 degrees, the speed of injection and withdrawal of the needle should be fast, and the direction should not be changed, all of above actions can reduce the pain of injection.
If the insulin is refrigerated, remember to take it out in advance and defrost it to room temperature. After disinfecting the skin with alcohol pads, it must be completely dry before injection.
Where does the Insulin Inject?
Remember to choose the part with obvious subcutaneous fat. Different parts have different absorption speeds. The abdomen is the fastest, the upper arms and thighs are medium, and the buttocks are the slowest. If apply it to the same area, the absorption rate will be fixed. However, the injection site must be rotated every period of time to reduce bruising, infection or fat hyperplasia.
